Material

Glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GRP) is a composite material made of glass and resin.

Glass-fibre features high mechanical strength. In comparison to glass fibre, resin materials provide excellent  resistance against chemicals and corrosion.

Different types of glass-fibre mats

Different types of resins (polyester resins, vinyl ester etc) and fibrous materials (glass-fibre mats, glass-fibre rovings, synthetic fibrous materials) are offered for individual requirements.

Due to the combination of various source materials, GRP offers outstanding properties and is therefore used for a number of applications. GRP provides the following properties:

• corrosion-resistance

• ageing resistance, weather resistance

• low specific weight while maintaining high mechanical characteristic values

• high chemical resistance

• proves to be odour-tight and diffusion-tight

• temperature resistance

• low thermal conductivity and high thermal insulation

• GRP can be subsequently modified according to individual requirements, e.g. laminating of flanges

The above stated properties provide excellent conditions for the production of various types of storage tanks and moulded parts.
